4) Introduction - How You Can Help
“By keeping an open-mind, we will in-turn open our arms to a thriving network of people and ideas that we unaware of beforehand.”

By Finn Brownbill
By now you might have familiarized yourself the heart of Design for Need and how we go about making a difference, but now I think it’s time we get to know you. If you want to help us out in whatever means, from tagging along out of intrigue to offering collaborative support, we certainly welcome you to do so. To quote Caesar, “Apes alone weak… apes together strong”. Alright, alright so I quoted Caesar, the chimpanzee from Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and not Julius Caesar, the historic figure, the but the sentiment remains nonetheless. Design for Need sees business, or at least our business, as a collaborative, non-competitive arena where there is plenty of work to go around. If we work together to achieve a common cause, we will be more efficient, more effective and closer to our vision of a world without poverty, global inequality and environmental injustice.
The first thing to do if you want to get involved is by following us on our social media platforms. Currently, this includes our Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Linkedin. They all have their varied purposes but, collectively you will be able to access to the complete undertakings of the company. Such as, a gallery of photos of our project work, invitations to events, links to articles about international developments, updates of our design prototypes and much more. It is also on these platforms were we positively encourage any feedback on pretty much anything we do. If there’s something you like about us, let us know. If there’s something you hate about us, also let us know. You might remember, one of our values is being open-minded. By keeping an open-mind, we will in-turn open our arms to a thriving network of people and ideas that we unaware of beforehand. By keeping an open-mind, we will succeed in establishing a thriving network, including you and strengthening ourselves as a result. We adapt because by doing so, we will be one step closer to where we want to be.
Also if you want to hear specific details and stories about what Design for Need get up to, just stick around here on our personal company blog. We will keep the blog updated with a frequent stream of information which should interest you, but when project work is taking place, I highly recommend coming back here as we really want share as much as possible with you. Our approach is to be as transparent as possible, so don’t worry, we won't miss anything out, especially the juicy bits. Also, as mentioned before, if social media is not your thing, nor is the refreshing of a blog page multiple times a day, then one way to keep up to date is signing up to our mailing list. This will keep you well informed without spamming you in the process, I promise.
As you might have remembered from the previous article, one of Design for Need’s planned activities includes our established ‘Community’. This is something we are so excited about bringing to life. However, we are currently in the process of setting up the platform by which the ‘Community’ will function. Therefore, for the mean time we ask you to sit tight and wait for the announcement of its initiation.
Congratulations, you made it to the end of our introductory series of articles for Design for Need. From now on our articles will range in topics and will posted regularly every week. If there’s more you would like to know about how we go about our business, then feel free to contact us, either by leaving a comment below, or by connecting to us via our social media platforms.
See you soon,
Finn

A co-founder of a sustainable design company without any design experience. Sounds ideal right? Hey ho, that’s not why I’m here. I’m the chief editor of the blog and I do plenty more (non-design related) jobs too.
